He prepared to burn Lord Shiva. To avoid this, Lord Shiva had to hide in a cave located in Deodank of Nirmand. Lord Shiva had to stay here for several months.

At the same time, Lord Vishnu took the form of a beautiful woman named Mohini to save Shiva and eliminate Bhasmasura. Bhasmasura too was fascinated by its beauty. Mohini asked Bhasmasura to dance with her, Bhasmasura also agreed. He started dancing with Mohini. Meanwhile, showing cleverness, Mohini placed her hand on the head during the dance. Seeing this, Bhasmasura was consumed as soon as he placed his hand on his head.

Lord Shiva trapped in cave

After the destruction of Bhasmasura, all the deities reached the mountain and prayed to Lord Shiva to come out of here. But Bholenath got trapped in a cave. He could not get out from here. He appeared in a form of power on the top of this mountain through a secret path.

When Lord Shiva started going from here, there was a huge explosion here after which a huge stone of Shivling shape survived. After worshiping it as Shivalinga, worship started after that. Along with this there are two big rocks which are worshiped in the name of Maa Parvati and Lord Ganesha. On the way to Srikhand Mahadev, special rocks are also found on the way, on which some articles are written. It is said that Bhima used them to make stairs to go to heaven. But due to lack of time, the whole stairs could not be built.

Registration will have to be done to visit Shrikhand Mahadev

During this ancient journey, every traveler is registered after the medical checkup at the base camp to be set up in Sinhagad. Every passenger has to pay a registration fee of Rs 150. A souvenir of Srikhand Mahadev Yatra Trust is also given during registration.
